been a while
well, anyway, to get to it, been pretty busy lately. Practicing taiko and tokunai bayashi for the two main festivals coming up in August. Tokunai on Monday and Friday nights, taiko on Tuesday and Thursday. Curtis and Avi came to visit from Boulder which was dope. Good excuse to travel around and eat bomb food. Also it was good to speak English for an extended period of time. I've pretty much settled into my home here in Murayama, daily life has become just that. There are always still the times that make me think, "wow, I am definitely not in the states." Like when I eat lunch with the kids at one of the middle schools and the lunch music comes on and I have to stop eating and listen to be sure I am actually hearing 50 Cent's P.I.M.P. track. Unedited. Or the name of the store I just walked by is actually called "Little Bitch".
I don't know if any of you back home heard about the guy here who just killed like 7 people and injured 12 with a survival knife in downtown Akihabara, Tokyo. Does that news even make it to the states? Anyway, it was pretty crazy, and I still can't really see how he was able to hit so many people. But I guess in that crowded of an area and just rolling through chiving people left and right, people probably don't even realize what's going on until it's over. Anyway, just makes me think that there is something to having some form of training under your belt. Not for fear of these things happening, but just for the power to be able to act in times of need. Most people in your everyday don't know anything about dealing with a confrontational situation. When shit goes down, you can probably bet that if you're not saving some asses, then more than likely no one else is either. Anyway, I digress.
From that I'll just end with what I've been working on in my bits of spare time: it's a poster for a festival coming up in August as well. I guess they cook a whole cow and it's a big party in the public park. Hope you like it. peace! Oh yeah, if you can't read japanese, it's just info about when and where, but you knew that!
