It's aliiiiiiive...........almost

Been crankin' like a rabid monkey on cocaine putting together my official site. It's been rough scouring the internet for tutorials and how-to's but I'm slowly starting to put the pieces together. I gotta give my pals Eli and Rob mad props for their knowledge and help. The site is now functional and has a good start, but it's not live yet(I can't decide on a domain name>_< ). But here's a little sneak peek!
I'll be sure to let ya'll know when it's up...
Late.

dope weekend

I was psyched to get the chance to get away this weekend and checkout a place I had not yet explored. Took the Wagon out and drove south for a few hours to Fukushima prefecture and up the mountains to ALTS Bandai resort. Surfing the information super highway, I randomly found a room with two meals and lift ticket all for about $115, so I had to jump on it. The hotel was newly renovated this summer and was slick as hell. The meals were viking style with both western and Japanese styles available. The bath was dope as well, all Japanese-accented modern style. The second day, I rode at the resort and got to hit up their super-pipe and kicker. So tight, reminded me a bit of Breckenridge. The weather was actually a bit hot, and it's definitely spring season riding. This weekend might be the last of it. After that it's off to Miyazaki to say what up to Luke. Workin on getting a ticket back home for the summer, but it's peak season and finding anything under $1200 is gonna be tricky. But hopefully I'll be able to make it back, otherwise, it's off to Beijing for the Olympics, yeah! I'll put some pics up laterz.....

Raccoon Dog part 2.

Last time I was saying how there is an animal in Japan and other parts of Asia called a tanuki which translates to "raccoon dog" in English. After some more research I think I found the mysterious origin surrounding this mythical animal ;P

Bad raccoon dog!

So, I read Kachi-Kachi Yama to the second-graders the other day and it features a character called tanuki which is the name of an animal found it parts of Asia. Well the translation in the book kept repeating "raccoon dog" this and "raccoon dog" that, and I was so confused. What the hell is a raccoon dog!? It's like saying a cat bear or a turtle frog. I assumed it was a mistake and figured it was just a raccoon, because it seemed to have similar features: the jail house stripes and the size of a large cat or small dog. But after a bit of research and comparison from Wikipedia, sure enough, there is a "raccoon dog". Not even related to North American raccoons either. It's part of the canidae family which includes dogs, foxes and wolves.... I'll be.

gutterball

I KNEW it was bound to happen at some point. Winding down the narrow streets by my house I am always especially on the look out for the small aqueducts that run along either side of the road, while my mind constantly plays images of my tiny tires slipping down into the gutter leaving the usually zippy Wagon hung up like a beached whale.

As an approaching car headed my way I stopped, and then slowly merged to the left. But I was at a diagonal and so my rear was blocking passage to the oncoming car. Therefore I pulled forward to straighten out and sure enough, THUMP, I was sitting at a queer angle leaning left and down. It was so obvious what happened I didn't even have to process it. I called my supervisor and luckily in my office one of my friends is a 200-odd pound Judo master who came and lifted the front up while I reversed it back onto level ground.

Last time I play the courtesy card and move over for oncoming traffic...
